Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Benefits
The Mountain Strong Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a benefit that your workplace may offer to help their employees deal with personal or work-related problems. It's like having a support system at work. If you're feeling stressed, having family issues, or struggling with substance abuse issues or dealing with other challenges, you can talk to a professional counselor through the EAP. The best part is that it's free and confidential. Whatever an employee discusses with the EAP counselor stays private.
The following local businesses participate in the Mountain Strong EAP:
- Antlers
- Eagle County Government
- Eagle County School District (employees)
- Elevated Dental
- Endorphin
- VVMTA
- My Future Pathways
- Sonnenalp
- Town of Avon
- Vail Health
- Vail Valley Foundation
- Shaeffer Hyde
- CORE Transit - EVTA
Olivia’s Fund Scholarship Program
Olivia's Fund is a scholarship program offered by Vail Health to help people who live or work in Eagle County who need mental health or substance abuse support but can't afford it. If you qualify, you can get up to six free therapy sessions each year. This fund is available to both young people or adults who don't have insurance. It's a great way to get the help you need without worrying about the cost.
Building Hope Scholarship Program
The Building Hope Scholarship in Summit County is a program that helps people get mental health care even if they can’t afford it.
If you live or work in Summit County and are having trouble paying for mental health services, you can apply for this scholarship. If you’re approved, you can get up to 12 free therapy sessions.
School-Based Counseling Options
The Vail Health Behavioral Health school-based counseling program in Eagle County is designed to help students with their mental health right at school. VHBH places trained therapists in schools throughout the Eagle River Valley. These therapists work with students who might be feeling stressed, anxious, or dealing with other emotional challenges. They provide individual counseling sessions, helping students manage their feelings and improve their well-being.

Are you a student or applying on behalf of a student?
Eagle County School District and Vail Health Behavioral Health have partnered to offer a school-based counseling program to support students' mental health directly at school. If you are a student in the Eagle County or are under the age of 18, we will guide you to the right resources to take advantage of this program.
Do you have an Insurance?
Olivia's Fund Scholarship prioritizes youth and those who are uninsured when evaluating applications. For adults with insurance, using your insurance for behavioral health services can be beneficial for several reasons:
Extended Coverage: Insurance often covers more sessions than Olivia's Fund, which is limited to six sessions per year.
Continuity of Care: If you start with a provider through your insurance, you can continue seeing them without interruption.
Long-Term Support: Using insurance can provide long-term support for ongoing mental health needs, beyond the temporary assistance offered by Olivia's Fund.
Overall, using insurance can offer more comprehensive and sustained mental health care for those who have access to it. This also helps keep Olivia's Fund Scholarship sustainable for the future, ensuring it remains available for those who have no other resources.
Olivia’s Fund no longer covers anyone over 18 who has commercial insurance. Eagle County School District students under 18 can still apply for Olivia’s Fund, regardless of insurance status.

How to Use Your Insurance for Behavioral Health Benefits
Check Your Benefits:
Log in to Your Insurance Account: Go to your insurance company's website and log in to your account. If you don't have an account, you can create one using your insurance information.
Find Your Plan Details: Look for a section called "Benefits" or "Coverage." This will show you what services are covered under your plan.
Look for Behavioral Health: Check if there is a specific section for mental health or behavioral health services. This will tell you what types of therapy, counseling, or other services are covered.
Understand Your Coverage:
In-Network vs. Out-of-Network: Make sure you know the difference between in-network and out-of-network providers. In-network providers usually cost less.
Co-pays and Deductibles: Find out how much you need to pay out-of-pocket for each visit (co-pay) and how much you need to pay before your insurance starts covering services (deductible).
Find a Provider:
Use Your Insurance Directory: Your insurance company will have a list of in-network providers. You can usually find this on their website.
Contact Providers: Call or visit the websites of the providers to see if they are accepting new patients and if they offer the services you need.
Make an Appointment:
Schedule Your Visit: Once you find a provider, call their office to schedule an appointment. Be sure to mention that you will be using your insurance.
Prepare for Your Visit: Bring your insurance card and any necessary information to your appointment.
Follow Up:
Check Your Bills: After your visit, check any bills you receive to make sure they match your insurance coverage.
Contact Your Insurance: If you have any questions or issues with your coverage, contact your insurance company's customer service for help.
